Do you love English…hate it-or are you somewhere in between? In high school, I hated English until I met Jeanne Edwards, an English teacher who encouraged me to write and to work on my English skills. She is one of a number of important mentors who have helped guide me through life. When I was teaching college English, some of my students said they came prepared to hate the class based upon earlier negative experiences. By the end of the class, however, that view changed based upon the work that we put in together. That work caused them to grow and appreciate the power of words and ideas expressed through all types of writing.

Find a tutor who you like and that will help guide you. Go with your initial impression. You will get a feeling when you look at the tutor’s website and introductory video and when you take one of their sample classes. Find a great tutor or tutors and stick with them. They will help you to improve your knowledge and use of English, which will help you in life no matter what you do for a living.

Below are a number of resources that I found on the Internet that will help you with your grammar and writing. As you go through these resources or take tutoring lessons, be aware of your strengths and weaknesses and work to improve in both areas. Feel free to email me with any additional resources that you find helpful.
